Last month the Wroclaw airport served 5% more passengers than in March 2013. The biggest increase occurred in the sector of international network connections (14.2%). In the case of low-cost connections, the increase amounted to 3.6%.
In March 2014, the Wroclaw Airport served 128,061 passengers. This is a result of the continuous development of the offer, particularly for passengers travelling for business purposes, and the maintenance of the stable situation in the sector of low-cost connections.
"Thanks to its modern infrastructure, good access from other cities and a diverse network of connections, the friendliest airport in Poland attracts like a magnet. An increasing number of travellers not only from the Lower Silesia region chooses our offer", says Jarosław Sztucki, Marketing and Sales Director of the Wroclaw Airport.
In March this year, international network connections attracted 26.5 thousand travellers, which translated into a more-than-average increase in this sector; the number of passengers was 14.2% higher than in the corresponding period of 2013. This result is largely due to the expansion of the network of flights. Eurolot airlines launched flights to Zurich at the beginning of March and to Milan and Paris at the end of the month.
"Apart from passengers served on new routes, the increase amounted to 8.6%, which is a very good result. When we add passengers who chose Zurich, the increase exceeds 14%", says Jarosław Sztucki.
The Wroclaw airport achieved an increase also in the sector of low-cost connections. In March 2014, these connections were used by 74.3 thousand persons, which means 3.6% more passengers thanin the analogous period of the last year.
"In March, with a number of operations comparable to last year’s figures, we achieved a better occupancy rate, which reflects the growing popularity of the offer of Ryanair and Wizz Air", says Jarosław Sztucki.
The summer schedule of flights that is valid from the 30th of March contains more than 60 destinations, including 25 low-cost destinations, 9 business destinations and 30 charter destinations. Ryanair airlines have launched flights to the Warszawa-Modlin airport, and in July they intend to introduce flights to Gdańsk – a destination that is already served by Eurolot. Lufthansa airlines introduced larger planes and increased the number of flights on routes to Frankfurt and Munich. The charter offer has been expanded with as many as 5 new hot destinations: Madera, Paphos in southern Cyprus, Morocco, Peloponnese and Djerba.
