Conference League. New competition rules
The UEFA Conference League 2024/2025 season is the first under the new competition format. It featured 36 teams (instead of 32, as previously) that were not divided into groups of 4 teams. Instead, each team played 6 matches in the league phase (3 home matches, 3 away matches), each against a different opponent.
The next stage of the competition was the knockout phase. There is no relegation system, either (for example, from the UEFA Champions League to the UEFA Europa League). The name ‘UEFA Europa Conference League’ has been shortened to UEFA Conference League.
What is the UEFA Conference League final?
The final of the UEFA 2025 Conference League is the decisive match of Europe's third most important football tournament. The final match will conclude the 2024/2025 season of the competition and determine the winner. The winner not only wins the trophy, but also qualifies for the UEFA Europa League in the next season.
What is the UEFA Conference League?
It is an annual competition between football clubs, organised by UEFA. Clubs compete for participation based on their performance in their national leagues. This is the third level of European cups, after the Champions League and Europa League.
What does the UEFA Conference League final mean for Wroclaw?
The event in Wroclaw has the potential of being the biggest UEFA Conference League final in history for two reasons:
- the stadium fulfils its task perfectly, is in an excellent condition and offers a large number of seats.
- the city itself has a lot to offer.
The UEFA final requires many efforts from all interested parties, but it is a great opportunity for the stadium and the city to receive football fans from around Europe. Even a few dozen thousands of fans may come to Wroclaw! This is an excellent opportunity to promote the capital of Lower Silesia.
