  3. ”This is the project!”

Project management, due to its effectiveness, becomes the more and more willingly used method of implementing the objectives. A large part of the tools currently used in, inter alia, computer science, economics or marketing are the standards developed by the NASA project teams. Even those very suspicious must admit that if any method works with such a difficult task as preparing a space shuttle to launch, all the more it may be applied on a smaller scale, e.g. in organising a party or a holiday trip.

On 17 September 2012, the first workshops of the "This is the project!" project were conducted. By the end of November 2012, 240 Wrocław lower secondary school students and 20 teachers participated in them. The teams of students implemented their own original projects. Then, all works took part in the competition and the jury, composed of the outstanding personalities from the world of business, politics and NGOs, shall honour the winners with the attractive awards. The Great Gala combined with presentations of the projects and presentation of awards will be held on 18 December 2012.

The scope of the "This is the project!" project is absolutely innovative, both in terms of the programme and the target group. The intention of the project authors is to teach young people the skills which are of key importance in the labour market today: work using project methods and effective teamwork.

"This is a project!" is aimed at supporting lower secondary school students and their teachers in meeting an obligation to implement the educational project, imposed on the 1st and 2nd grade students by the Regulation of the Minister of Education of 20 August 2010.

To this end, the Office of Economic Development at the City Hall of Wrocław (initiator) and the Institute of Social Education (implementer) decided to make lower secondary school students and their teachers familiar with knowledge about professional project management tools.
