The documentary "In Search Of Chopin" premieres on the birthday anniversary of the pianist, March 1 in the Nowe Horyzonty Cinema. There will also be the opportunity to meet the director.
The film "In Search Of Chopin" is yet another part of the popular and widely displayed cycle "In Search Of," in which the audience has already seen the films dedicated to the life and works of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. Entrusting the implementation of the "In Search of Chopin" to Phil Grabsky is not accidental; the director is also responsible for the previous part of the cycle about composers. This time, he wanted to find out why exactly a child born near Warsaw has become perhaps the most prominent creator in the history of music, and why his work is worshipped in every latitude.
To shoot the film, Phil Grabsky needed as much as four years, including a year spent on research, interviews with experts, as well as thorough examination of all recorded works of the Polish composer he could find. And then he travelled. In 2010 he arrived in Warsaw, for the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Frederic Chopin. He was offered filming of the concert of the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century and Janusz Olejniczak. Some parts of the video were used in the document. But the British director went even further with his journeys - to Nohant, France, where Chopin lived in the house of his life companion, writer George Sand and to Paris, where he spent half of his life, died and was buried in the Père-Lachaise cemetery.
The two-hour film presents a lot of important facts from Chopin's life, his works, and his music is presented by excellent pianists, such as Daniel Barenboim, Ronald Brautigam, or the 1990 winner of the Chopin Competition, Kevin Kenner.
Screening in the Nowe Horyzonty Cinema: March 1 at 7 pm. Tickets cost 20 and 25 PLN. In March, the film will be available in Polish cinemas.
