  3. 14.06: Night Half Marathon – changes in traffic

On Saturday, there will be serious changes in organisation of car traffic and public city transport in some areas of Wroclaw, mainly the Great Island. Drivers should be prepared for some temporary traffic difficulties along the entire route of the Half Marathon. See the MARATHON ROUTE - MAP.

In order to minimise these difficulties, city services will set upa temporary police station at the intersection of Mydlana and Swojczycka streets. Traffic will be managed by police officers.

Drivers who would like to get to the Great Island will be allowed to pass through the Chrobry Bridges, whereas other drivers will have to drive along ul. Mydlana. Changes in traffic organisation will last till midnight. From 8:00 p.m. till 0:00 a.m., alternating traffic will be introduced on the Zwierzyniecki Bridge.

Additional transport

“According to our calculations, car traffic is 3 times less intense on Saturday at 9:00 p.m. than on weekdays. Therefore, changes can make driving more difficult only for a while. However, drivers are advised not to arrive at the Great Island, if this is not necessary,” says Elwira Nowak from the City Engineering Department of the Wroclaw City Council.

To make access more convenient, additional tram and bus service will be introduced. The special tram T3 will run on the route from the Dąbie depot to the Galeria Dominikańska shopping centre, and the bus A1 will run between the Centennial Hall and Galeria Dominikańska. Additional buses and trams will start to run from 10:30 p.m., and will travel every 10 minutes till 11:30 p.m.

“Around 6 thousand persons will participate in the race. The route is appropriately certified, so we invite you to break official records,” encourages Marek Danielak, Director of the Half Marathon.

On Saturday the 14th of June, the „Macbeth” performance will also take place in the Centennial Hall. The show will start at 7:00 p.m. and will last till 10:30 p.m. For the duration of the performance and the Half Marathon, routes of buses and trams will be shortened.
