Marek Krajewski, the author of the bestseller series of retro detective books whose main character is Breslau's police officer Eberhard Mock, officially confirmed that in 2015 the filming of the first part of the series based on his book titled "Death in Breslau" will start.
The series will be directed by Agnieszka Holland and the produced is Wroclaw's ATM Group and a German production group. This information was disclosed to us by Agnieszka Holland herself during the NATPE Europe television fair. It has not been stated yet for which television station the Group will work. This information was published by "The Hollywood Reporter".
"() I hereby confirm with great joy: Yes, the filming of my first four novels will start in 2015! The first part ("Death in Breslau") will be directed by the excellent Polish director, a three-times Oscar nominee, Mrs. Agnieszka Holland", wrote Marek Krajewski on his Facebook profile.
For now we do not know who will play the main character, Eberhard Mock, but the cast, as the writer confirmed, is to be international. "This does not mean that I am not allowed to make any suggestions as to the actor playing the lead role," said the writer. "I could start fantasizing and propose various names of foreign actors aged about fifty (this is the age of Mock in the "Death in Breslau"), such as Russell Crowe or Colin Firth. However, I am a realist who tries to base his opinions on solid foundations (if there is anything solid in our uncertain times) and draw conclusions based on facts. These are the facts: (1) Agnieszka Holland will film another series of a popular political series titled "House of Cards"; (2) the main role in that series is played by Kevin Spacey; (3) Polish episodes in Kevin Spacey's professional life are well known (he played in commercials of Polish companies). Based on facts (1) through (4), I am making this risky proposition: perhaps Kevin Spacey would play Eberhard? Do you have any other suggestions?" wonders Marek Krajewski.
