February abounds in concerts

Below, we present our February concert proposals - from jazz to heavy metal. Classic music proposals will be announced separately.

Jazz and music of the world

Mikromiusic

As promised, we start with jazz, and the music of the so called music of the world - they both just go together well. In February, fans of the second kind of music (well, admittedly, this is not entirely a precise definition) will have a real field day. In the first week of the month, Wroclaw will see a concert of Celtic folk masters, Carrantuohill (February 5., Stary Klasztor). Three days later, we will host a Szczecin group who draw their inspiration from the culture of the Orient and Balkan folklore, Dikanda (February 8., Stary Klasztor). Another three days - and here comes an interesting concert again: this time of an accordion group Motion Trio (February 11., Stary Klasztor). And yet another three days - and the opportunity arises to see a Wroclaw group, Mikromusic in its unplugged rendition, i.e. Mikromusic Acoustic Trio (February 14., Sala Gotycka). And since it's Valentine's Day, the concert will surely be a special one.

The end of February will see two more attractions: Marcin Wyrostek & Coloriage, i.e. the accordion master and his latest record live (February 24., Sala Gotycka) and the popular and concert-colourful group Enej (February 27., Eter).

Rock

Michał Jelonek

On the very first day of the month fans of rock will be able to attend a concert of Coma (February 1., Eter). The group has been to Wroclaw quite recently, but with an orchestra; this time they will play in a strictly rock rendition. Fans of Hunter (and perhaps Ankh?), as well as the violin used in rooms other than concert halls should see Jelonek in action (February 5., Sala Gotycka). Fans of Kazik in renditions other than Kult and KNŻ will have the opportunity to see Staszewski, together with ProForma quartet (February 8., Sala Gotycka). The repertoire will consist of Kazik father's songs, as well as works of Kazik himself, rarely performed live. Also, to re-visit our city is Organek (February 12., Stary Klasztor), and the above mentioned Kazik will reappear in Wroclaw in one week, this time on his final tour with the KNŻ (February 15., Eter). A few days later our local star will bid goodbye to their fans, i.e. Snake Charmer , the authors of the memorable hit "Born In The PRL" (February 21., Alive). The programme will feature various treats, surprising guests, and instead of a mourning atmosphere - loads of fun.

The series of concert goodbyes to audience will be crowned by a performance of a foreign star - the UK. John Wetton and his friends will farewell their fans with the "Final World Tour", and one of its concerts will reach Wroclaw (February 22., Wroclaw Radio Concert Hall). One group that has no intention of leaving the stage forever is surely Lady Pank; the group will play their hits in the unplugged version (February 28., Wroclaw Congress Centre). Let's hope that Jan Borysewicz will turn up in shape.

Punk/reggae/hip-hop

Habakuk

When it comes to more involved and combative music, there is unfortunately slightly fewer opportunities to spend time with performers who make it. Nevertheless, it's worth checking the present condition of a group Bunkier (February 7., Łykend). It's also worth popping to a concert of Kultur Shock (February 17., Sala Gotycka). They are Seattle-born "Balkan-punk rockers", at one occasion praised by Jello Biafra himself. Not too long after, to follow them to our city is everybody's favourite Habakuk (February 21., Sala Gotycka). The group will celebrate their 25th anniversary, so we can surely expect a special performance with some extra attractions. When it comes to fans of hip-hop, they ought to flock to a concert by a star of European hip-hop, the Swedes from Looptroop Rockers (February 25., Sala Gotycka).

Stage performance, author's song and a bit of "new vibes"

Ryszard Rynkowski

To those who are most keen on song in its traditional form, with good melody and text, we should recommend the concert of indestructible Michał Bajor (February 14., Impart). And since the day is Valentine's Day, the atmosphere will surely be warm and lyrical. For those willing, there is also a concert of Ryszard Rynkowski on the same day (the Centennial Hall). To come to Wroclaw on the next day is Anna Maria Jopek (February 15., Wroclaw Radio Concert Hall). Also Stare Dobre Małżeństwo the classics of sung poetry, very popular among unreformed romantics and fans of Edward Stachura's poetry have announced their arrival to Wroclaw (February 27., Impart).

Mister D

Surely a show by Mister D, aka Dorota Masłowska, and her accompanying musicians will surely be something extraordinary (February 13., Stary Klasztor). No one knows what to expect, but this literary-music event is surely a must. The category of "new vibes" surely includes a concert of Iza Lach, who in her music combines hip-hop, soul and pop (February 15., Stary Klasztor). The artist is maturing and developing, so it may turn out interesting. Also, a performance by Natalia "Natu" Przybysz looks interesting; she will present her songs from her latest record, "Prąd" (February 19., Sala Gotycka).

Metal

Ghost Brigade

Enthusiasts of heavy metal will be served just a few concerts, but one of them, the first one, is definitely worth recommending, by a Finnish group Ghost Brigade (February 7., Liverpool). They are regrettably still not recognized and appreciated in Poland, but surely worth getting to know better. Their music is heavy, yet melodic, they can really "hit it hard", but also play with a romantic vibe, close to the good old Paradise Lost or Tiamat. Mid February will see a visit of just re-activated Hazael (February 20., Ciemna Strona Miasta), who will play songs from their now cult record, "Thor". A day later, the same venue will be visited by Chimera, and not too long afterwards, on February 28., by the indestructible death metal veterans from Trauma.

Festivals

February will abound in those, and they will satisfy a vast array of audience. Fans of hip-hop will have the opportunity to have their field day at Wroclaw Hip-Hop Festival (February 13., the Centennial Hall). The event will feature such aces as, e.g. Tede, Sokół i Marysia Starosta, Eldo and Ten Typ Mes. On the other hand, fans of dance music can enjoy "Euforia Festival Back To The Roots 4" (February 14., the Centennial Hall). This is yet another proposal for Valentine's Dat, and the line-up featured, e.g. Joy Kitikonti , Klubbheads and Marco V. When it comes to those in favour of sailor vibes will celebrate the 26th Meetings with Sailor and Folk Song, "Shanties in Wroclaw" (February 26 - March 1, various places in Wroclaw). The event will feature, e.g. 4 Refy, Mechanicy Shanty, EKT-Gdynia and Bardowie Kubryku.
