Actions in relation to the coronavirus in Wroclaw [REPORT OF APRIL 20]

Numbers

Lower Silesia:

• 1077 – confirmed cases (33 new cases from yesterday’s report),
• 33 – deaths (3 from yesterday).

Poland:

• 9593 – confirmed cases (306 new),
• 380 – deaths in total.

Within the last day 10 000 samples were tested.

As of today it is allowed to freely enter forests and national parks in Poland. Covering mouth and nose is not mandatory in forest.

Cemeteries have been opened too. Not more than 50 people are allowed to participate in funerals. New rules in trade are introduced today.

There will be no slaughtering of animals in Wroclaw ZOO

Jacek Sutryk: - As the mayor of Wroclaw I want to say that we are proud of our ZOO. Its situation, although difficult due to the epidemic and no visits, is stable. All animals are under constant care, they are provided with food, appropriate conditions and they lack nothing.

Wroclaw ZOO is one of the most popular tourist attraction in the country, with approx. 2 million visitors annually. This is the oldest ZOO in Poland with 12,000 animals, representing  1,000 species.

• Today we celebrate anniversary of the birth of Adam Wojcik. Adam Wojcik Square will be built near Kosynierka, at the intersection of Mieszczanska and Jagielly Streets.
• Help for the sport world. Within the assistance package, entities using municipal premises will be exempt from charges for the duration of the pandemic.
• LG Chem donated 10,000 tests and 20 thousand masks for the Polish health service.
