Changes in quarantine and the end of remote learning

From 15th February, contact quarantine and arrival quarantine will be lifted. In addition, schoolchildren from grades 5–8 and secondary school pupils will return to schools after the period of remote education on 21st February.

According to the Minister of Health, the high number of infections does not translate into the number of hospitalisations. Currently, around 30,000 beds are set aside for COVID-19 patients. In the next few days, 5,000 of these beds will return to the system of treatment of other diseases and conditions.

The rules of quarantine will change:

  • From 15th February, the isolation of coronavirus-infected persons will last 7 days. Quarantine will be imposed on household members living with infected persons only during the isolation of the latter. This means that isolation and quarantine periods will run simultaneously. Vaccinated persons can undergo a shorter quarantine in the case of a negative test result.
  • From 10th February, contact quarantine will be lifted, which means that persons indicated on the basis of an epidemiological interview will avoid it.
  • From 11th February, arrival quarantine will also be lifted. It will apply only to persons not having a EU COVID-19 certificate.

Children will return to schools faster – the remote learning period is shortened

The Ministry of Education and Science (MEN) informed that schoolchildren from grades 5–8 and secondary school pupils will return to schools one week earlier. The end of remote learning and the return to school benches is scheduled for 21st February.
