A foreigner has to submit an application for a temporary residence permit personally to the Lower Silesian Governor not later than on the last day of his/her legal stay in Poland. During this formality, his/her fingerprints are taken. If the governor issues a favourable decision, the foreigner will receive a residence card.
In what cases is it possible to obtain a temporary residence permit?
There is a number of grounds for obtaining a temporary residence permit, e.g.:
- work – a foreigner receives a temporary residence and work permit,
- work requiring high qualifications – a foreigner receives a residence permit in respect of his/her performance of work in a profession requiring high qualifications,
- intra-corporate transfer – a foreigner receives a temporary residence permit in respect of his/her intra-corporate transfer,
- delegation – a foreigner delegated by a foreign employer to the territory of Poland receives a temporary residence permit for the purpose of performing work,
- business activity – a foreigner receives a residence permit in respect of his/her conduct of business activity,
- seasonal work – a foreigner receives a residence permit in respect of seasonal work,
- studies – a foreigner receives a residence permit in respect of studies,
- marriage – a foreigner receives a residence permit in respect of his/her marriage to a Polish citizen,
