The meeting will take place on Pl. Nowy Targ square on 22 December. It is estimated that even up to 800 persons will participate in the joint Christmas Eve supper. ‘There will certainly be enough room for everyone in need – even if we have one thousand guests, each of them will eat his fill, too,’ stresses Paweł Trawka from Wroclaw’s Caritas. The meeting will start at 11 a.m. and may last 3-4 hours.
The meeting has two dimensions. On the one hand, its aim to help the most needy so that they could meet, share the wafer and eat their fill; on the other hand, anyone can join the organisers and help with the preparation of the meeting. ‘We invite everyone who would like to share his gifts, such as home-made cakes, to bring them to Pl. Nowy Targ on the day of the meeting from the morning,’ encourages Trawka.
Such Christmas meetings are addressed mainly to those who have daily meals in eating places run by various aid organisations in Wroclaw and people supported by the Municipal Social Welfare Centre. Such aid organised by Caritas Wroclaw is provided to almost half a thousand persons every day.
