The cost is almost PLN 16 million. The work, planned for three months, is now at the halfway point. There is no trace left of the old track. A new one is under construction, which will be green in its final form, but also new poles will be erected to support the new overhead line.
When the work is completed, the route to the centre of Leśnica will be green. Trams running on such tracks are quieter and do not stir up dust. Local inhabitants should benefit from the change.
The construction work will, of course, mean difficulties in reaching the centre of Leśnica by public transport. Instead of trams, the bus line 710 runs. The changes to public transport are detailed here:
Work is being carried out in the last old section of the route, between Jeżowska Street and the Jeleniogórska stop. A new track made by Wrocławskie Inwestycje as part of the construction of the final stage of the Leśnica bypass leads to Jeżowska from Glinianki. A section of Kosmonautów was rebuilt along with the track and 11 Listopada Street was built. From the Jeleniogórska stop, new tracks were laid by MPK when modernising the Leśnica terminus.
‘The track that is currently under repair was the last section of the route to Leśnica being in poor technical condition,’ admits Przemysław Nowicki, Vice-President of MPK Wroclaw. ‘After this modernisation, the entire line to Leśnica will be ready for decades of service.’
