What is the recipe for a modern public engagement ceremony? You must attract guests via social media. This idea was put into practice by a young man from Wroclaw who published an event “Wymarzone oświadczyny” (Dream Engagement) on Facebook.
According to the law
On the Facebook page, we can read: "I’m planning the most beautiful engagement ceremony – the one that my woman would never think of in her wildest dreams. I need your help – that is, your presence at the Wroclaw fountain. () I need around 1,000 persons to make a crowd, clap to music and create an environment for performing artistic bands,” This invitation is not signed by any name – everything is anonymous so that the author’s sweetheart does not find out about his plans. However, it turns out that the would-be fiancé is not planning a lawless gathering without the consent of the owner of the area. He has already requested the Managing Board of the Centennial Hall to help him to organise the engagement – and he is not the only person who did this.
Fashion for saying "yes" in public
”This event is enjoying high popularity with inhabitants. We have received requests from many persons intending to organise such events, but many of them resign at a later stage. Why? Because costs matter. Such a private event at the Wroclaw fountain costs several thousand zlotys,” says Bożena Rudyk, image specialist of the Centennial Hall. So far more than 500 persons have expressed their will to participate in this specific event, so it is going to be a mass event. This also involves extra costs, including security, medical aid or fencing of the area.
Likes and promotion
If the potential fiancé manages to fulfil all conditions and the engagement takes place, a video of the ceremony will certainly be published on the Internet. Regardless of the number of “likes”, it will be an unforgettable souvenir for lovers and a nice promotion for Wroclaw. If the beloved says “yes”, of course.
