Coronavirus: remember about safety

Even though the government has already lifted most of the restrictions introduced for the pandemic period, remember that coronavirus still does not let itself be forgotten! New infections and deaths are recorded every day. Thus, do not ignore safety guidelines and take care of yourselves, your loved ones and also your fellow travellers in means of public transport or at the time of shopping.

Cover your nose and mouth

From 30th May, you do not have to cover your nose and mouth in the open air, on condition that you keep 2 metres of distance from others.

You are required to cover your mouth and nose in:

  • buses and trams,
  • shops,
  • cinemas and theatres,
  • massage and tattoo parlours,
  • churches,
  • offices (if you go there to arrange a matter).

Exceptions

  • at work – if the employer ensures adequate distances between workstations and complies with sanitary requirements;
  • in a restaurant or a bar – when you take a seat at a table.

Safe travel in MPK vehicles with masks from WCRS

In consideration of passengers who do not remember about safety guidelines when travelling by tram or bus, ticket inspectors hand out masks that ensure protection primarily in situations when we infect others without realising this. Many persons infected by coronavirus have no symptoms.

Masks are supplied to the Municipal Transport Company (MPK) by the Wroclaw Centre for Social Development (WCRS) – until now, MPK has received 3,000 pcs.

‘If any social organisation or housing association needs masks, they only need to contact us,’ says Beata Nawrotkiewicz from WCRS. You can do this by e-mail: [email protected].

Mask vending machine

People who do not wear a mask may be charged with a fine imposed by a policeman in the amount of 500 PLN or by the County Sanitary Inspector in the amount of minimum 5,000 PLN and maximum 30,000 PLN.

Masks required for office visitors

Without covering your nose and mouth, you will not enter Inhabitant Service Centres, either. The entrance is protected by city guards, who check each customer’s temperature. They also hand out masks to the forgetful ones. Only one entrance to the premises of the Wroclaw City Office is open, and there is a limit of visitors in service centres: the number of customers staying inside at the same time must not exceed the number of open counters.

Arranging as many matters as possible via Internet or by telephone is still recommended.

Zoo, Hydropolis and other attractions

A number of Wroclaw attractions have adapted to the new situation. In the Wroclaw Zoo, wearing masks during visits to open pavilions or the Africarium is recommended.

Compulsory masks and gloves everywhere on the premises – such safety rules have been introduced in the Hydropolis. ‘There are lots of touch devices in water museums, so gloves are required. If someone does not have them, they can get them from us,’ says Wiola Samborska, Marketing Manager at Hydropolis and the Municipal Water and Sewage Company. There is also a limit of maximum 130 visitors at the same time.
