Covid-19 vaccinations for children

Covid-19 vaccinations for children aged from 5 to 11 will start on 16th December.

‘I think they are absolutely necessary,’ says Professor Leszek Szenborn, Head of the Chair of Paediatrics and Infectious Diseases in the University Clinical Hospital. ‘If we do not vaccinate children, they will become a reservoir for the virus and will take part in its transmission. They will start to infect others.

How to vaccinate your own child?

From 11th December, e-referrals will be issued for all children from the age group of 5–11 – they will be sent to their parents. Information will be posted on the parent’s Internet Patient Account (IKP). Even if the father or mother does not have such an account, they can come to the vaccination point with their kid. In such a case, an employee of the facility will recognise whether the child can be vaccinated.

Vaccination against Covid-19 is possible, among others, in the University Clinical Hospital.

The European Commission approved the Comirnaty vaccine produced by Pfizer and BioNTech for use in children at the age of 5–11 years. Children will receive a three times smaller dose of vaccine than used in young people at the age of 12 or more years and in adults.
