The exhibits present the characters, places, and events known from stories and films, as well as historical scenes and the most famous architectural structures - both historic and contemporary. An exhibition devoted to the most important award in the field of contemporary architecture. It summarizes 25 years of the competition in nearly 150 architectural models and visualizations, as well as 3000 project visualizations submitted since 1988.
Food swap in Księgarnia Hiszpańska

Already a fifth food swap under the auspices of the Wroclaw branch of Food Not Bombs. As always, there will be fresh vegetables and fruits to take away, in exchange for small amounts of food products such as cereals, beans, oil, spices etc.
Food Truck Festival: Culture of Flavours
January 15-17, Saturday-Sunday: 12 - 11 pm, pl. Nowy Targ
Restaurants on wheels will create a culinary setting of the ECC opening weekend. Each food truck will prepare a dish whose name will refer to the history and tradition of Wroclaw. There will be burgers, sausages, pastas, soups, pierogi, baguettes and sandwiches, Tex-Mex dishes, something sweet, savoury, for carnivores, vegetarians, hot and cold - an entire palette of flavors encapsulated in one Wroclaw square.
Sounds of Wroclaw: ECC info kiosk + music performances

The musicians will be playing e.g. in shopping centres, the Clinic in ul. Borowska, in the Wroclaw Care and Education Centre in ul. Lekcyjna, and in the Nowe Horyzonty Cinema. The pianists will play in the hall of the railway station and Wroclaw airport.
Wroclaw Warms Up

Wroclaw Warms Up is a dozen places in the centre of Wroclaw with fired installations, by which you can warm up. In each of these places you can find a musician, and the volunteers will provide information about the events of the ECC. Additionally, in all spots you can buy mulled wine, coffee and tea.
EURO 2016 Handball Championship Fan Zone
Saturday, January 16, 3 - 11 pm, the square at the Spire in front of the Centennial Hall, free admission
The Fan Zone will accommodate up to 1500 people. It will be open daily from 5 to 11 pm. On 16, 17, 20 and 29 January, from 3 pm. Apart from a giant screen, the fans will have at their disposal a food court, entertainment zone and the sponsors zone. Fans will have the opportunity to take part in exciting contests and skate on the ice rink. During the championship, the multimedia fountain will be launched
Island on Fire - Two Worlds

Fire shows on Słodowa Island as part of the European Capital of Culture opening weekend, complemented with firework and smoke shows, as well as flaming art installations. The performances will be played every 30 minutes. To present themselves are artists from across Poland, e.g. AVATAR Theatre (Legnica), acrobatic group Space Duo (Złotoryja), Bessali (Legnica), Flagrantis (Tri-City), Kamil Balmas, aka Cyrik (Legnica), Azis Light (Dąbrowa Górnicza).

Opening of the ECC - Mercouri/Xenakis
The three-day project Mercouri/Xenakis is an event organized specially for the opening weekend of the European Culture Capital Wrocław 2016, consisting of an exhibition, concerts: symphonic, chamber and electroacoustic, and a performance. Lasting from 15 to 17 January, the event will be dedicated to the works of Iannis Xenakis - one of the world's most important composers of contemporary music, and Melina Mercouri - Greek actress and originator of the concept of European Capital of Culture.

Satin Voices vocal ensemble are seven beautiful women and two handsome men. Apart from famous jazz standards, their repertoire includes such hits as: Adele's Someone Like You, Hit the Road Jack, Over The Rainbow or Sway. The ensemble are winners of the Special Prize of Włodzimierz Szomański Festival 'Not only Gospel.' They sing jazz, pop, folk and gospel songs, as well as compositions and author's arrangements by Aleksandra Osiecka-Skoblewska, Katarzyna Szeloch and Natalia Szczypuła.

Opening of the European Capital of Culture - ' Awakening'

The highlight of the ECC opening weekend. The ceremony will begin in four districts of Wroclaw. Processions of Wroclawians and artists will set off from tram depot Dąbie, bus depot in ul. Grabiszyńska, bus depot Popowice and the Land Forces Academy in ul. Czajkowskiego. They will head for the Market Square lead by the four spirits of Wroclaw: the Spirit of Many Denominations, the Spirit of Innovation, the Spirit of Reconstruction and the Spirit of Flood. They will tell the story of the city. A few metre tall installations of the spirits were designed by French artist Philippe Geoffroy. The grand finale will take place at the Wroclaw Market Square. This is where the spectacular show will take place, featuring 1300 artists, 200 choristers, 50 soldiers and 300 cyclists. The programme is available here.
Leave a trail behind! - Opening of the ECC 2016 bikes
January 17, from 4.30 to 5.30, the intersection of: Grabiszyńska/Zaporoska
Four hundred cyclists will create a mobile, luminous ribbon, which can't be cut. Thus the 'cycling polar bears' will become a part of the spectacular musical and visual performance, inaugurating the European Culture Capital Wrocław 2016. For a few minutes, the eyes of entire Europe will be turned to the Opening Ceremony of the ECC, and the part Wroclaw cyclists will play in it. You can register to the event via a form available here.

The project Poświatowska/Radek is a subtle vibe of the poetess' poems, interlaced with beautiful and lyrical compositions by Janusz Radek.
