1 - The State Water Management Authority, Wody Polskie, has decided to conduct a controlled flooding of the Oławka polder and water-bearing areas due to the high water levels in the Oder River.

- This procedure is in compliance with the flood protection procedure for Wrocław. The area being flooded is specifically prepared for such situations, and the operation is meant to protect residents from flooding," explains Przemysław Gałecki, deputy president of the MPWiK Board in Wrocław, adding that:

- Water treatment processes are under constant technological and laboratory supervision. The water is regularly tested and continues to meet all standards, making it safe for drinking. If the laboratory results deteriorate, we will immediately inform the residents and the public."

2 - You can leave your car at Park&Ride city parking lots for safety

Wrocław's park&ride parking lots are fully open for residents. They can park at 27 lots, with total parking space for around 2,500 cars.

Parking spaces will remain available until Monday, September 23, 2024, until midnight.

3 - Prof. Robert Czerniawski, director of IMGW-PIB (Institute of Meteorology and Water Management – National Research Institute), during a flood crisis meeting in Wrocław said that:

- In the case of Opole and Wrocław, the situation seems to be less concerning," noting that "water should not spill over the embankments there."

He assessed that regarding rivers "flowing into Wrocław, where the outflowing water will meet the water in the Oder River, like the Ślęza and Oława Rivers, the highest water levels from these rivers should recede by now, which will not cause a greater threat."

According to prof. Czerniawski, the worst situation is with regards to "the Bystrzyca River, where water is being regulated by the Mietków reservoir, leading to unnatural water levels in the Bystrzyca." However, he acknowledged that "even if the waters of the Bystrzyca meet with the Oder, the situation is not critical, according to the assumed models."

4 - Manuscripts of "Pan Tadeusz" and "The Peasants" – priceless collections of Ossolineum in Wrocław – have been secured against flooding.

Dr. Katarzyna Uczkiewicz, the press spokesperson for the Ossoliński National Institute, reassures:
