On the occasion of the National Independence Day celebrated on 11th November, the 17th Festive Independence Parade will take place in Wroclaw.
This year – the year of the 100th anniversary of restoration of Poland’s freedom – is exceptional, so this year’s parade will assume an unusual form. Whole families of Wroclaw inhabitants will march through the city in white-red processions to celebrate this special day together and pay tribute to the heroes without which our country would not have become independent. The processions will set off from four city points and will meet on Plac Wolności, where the official ceremony will take place. Two routes will represent white, and the other two will represent red – during the national anthem, inhabitants will create a magnificent white-red flag. Routes of processions will start in landmark places of Wroclaw: Plac Jana Pawła II (John Paul II Square), Zajezdnia History Centre, Powstańców Śląskich Street, and Plac Społeczny. The main core of the marching groups will be dressed-up children and young people from Wroclaw schools. The official ceremony along with the military ceremonial and a parade of uniform formations accompanied by a brass orchestra and colour parties will take place in front of a crowd of several thousand people.
