- Culmination Wave on Oder
Despite the fact that the peak of the wave was significantly flattened due to the reservoir in Racibórz, the flood danger did not disappear. Wrocław will remain on high alert for the next few days.
- Security Measures
Thank you very much to all services, firefighters, volunteers, city office workers, and residents involved in the work, especially by filling sandbags. Intensive efforts by the services are taking place in various parts of the city, particularly where the situation is critical.
- Coordination and Support
Thanks to cooperation with the army, fire brigades, the police, and services from other cities like Kraków, Gdańsk, and Poznań, we have prepared a reserve of sand and bags, and the services are ready to take action to protect the city.
- Water and Infrastructure
Currently, the drinking water is safe, but we are constantly monitoring its quality. If the situation changes, we will notify you immediately. We are securing the embankments and critical infrastructure, including the sewage collector on Bystrzyca and the water plant.
- International cooperation:
A meeting between Prime Minister Donald Tusk and representatives of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, and the European Commission is planned to discuss aid for flood-affected regions.
- Support for affected regions:
We want to express our solidarity with the southern regions of Poland, especially the Opole Region, where the damage is severe. Wrocław is ready to help.
- Volunteering:
A volunteer base now has 6,000 people, but the mayor calls for responsible engagement to avoid overwhelming services when it is unnecessary. Volunteers can help with reinforcing embankments and monitor their condition.
- Warnings and recommendations:
Ban on entering embankments. Any leaks and threats can be reported by calling 112 or the Crisis Management Centre.
- Critical phase:
The next few days are crucial. I want to stress that the crisis is not over yet and I urge you to be alert and ready for potentially pessimistic scenarios.
