A renovation is like a medal – it has two sides. On the one hand, it improves the city; on the other, it generates difficulties. When it ends, everyone seems to be happy. Let us start with the tracks:
- on Szczytnicki Bridge;
- on Szczytnicka Street;
- on Powstańców Śląskich Street (to the intersection with Piłsudskiego);
- at the intersection of Kazimierza Wielkiego and Szewska.
As you know, their completion means the return of trams to their regular routes: 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 72 and others. Passengers should read the full notice ‘Attention, changes to public transport between 31st August and 2nd September.’
We also take a look at Grabiszyńska Street, where the Hutmen Vienna-style platforms are under construction. They will be ready in October.
Attention! However, the end of the summer holidays does not mean that the track work is definitely finished for this year. For example, the renovation of the crossing on Szpitalna Street and the intersection of Grabiszyńska and Zaporoska streets will begin soon.
Brodzka and other streets ‘On the Right Way’
The replacement of the pavement on Brodzka Street will end on 31st August. This is one of the first sites repaired as part of the aforementioned ‘Wroclaw on the Right Way’ campaign.
Carried on by the Roads and City Maintenance Authority in Wroclaw, the task covers 15 streets.
Krzycka Promenade and others
As of 31st August, the section of the Krzycka Promenade between Spiska and Slężna streets will be officially opened.
Other investments for pedestrians or cyclists:
- a road on Szybka Street has been built,
- 1,500 bicycle racks will be installed throughout the city by the end of the year,
- a new pedestrian and cycle path is planned on Dobra (Kłokoczyce) as part of the Wroclaw Citizens’ Budget (WBO); it is due to be opened in November;
- during the summer holidays, road builders improved the pavements, among others, on Brodzka Street,
- a ramp has been created between Sopocka Street and the embankments;
- work is under way on the pavement at Wajda Street next to the zoo; it is scheduled for completion in the second half of September;
- the renovation of the pavement on Balzaka Street, including the widening of the roadway and lighting, is due to be completed by the same date;
- in the centre, the replacement of the pavement and cycle path on the University Bridge is under way,
- the deck on the Oporowska footbridge was replaced during the summer holidays;
- new lighting has appeared on Mokrzańska Street (Housing Estate Fund);
- installation of lighting on Kutrzeby (Housing Estate Fund) is under way.
Educational facilities, including new schools
During the summer holidays, holiday renovations were carried out in more than 100 Wroclaw schools and kindergartens and in all nurseries for a total of around 50 million PLN, twice as much as last year.
They included the redevelopment of food blocks, staircases, toilets, sports fields and buildings, playgrounds or heating installations. Staircases, roofs and fences were renovated, and thermal modernisation works were carried out.
New schools on Cynamonowa and Bialostocka streets will be opened in September. In connection with this, the surrounding roads are being rebuilt – for example, the Cynamonowa–Pełczyńska connector road, where the work will last a few more months.
