The festival will last from the 13th till the 18th of October. The program includes also panel discussions, during which invited guests will talk about Walter Benjamin, Thomas Mann and Tadeusz Konwicki, and a few open lectures: Professor Andrzej Borowski’s lecture on Jews and Janusz Rudnicki’s lecture on Bruno Schulz – the patron of the Festival.
As in previous years, the festival will be accompanied by two scientific conferences. The first of them will be devoted to the paradigm of gnosis in literature and philosophy, and the second one will be devoted to the legendary poet Rafał Wojaczek, who would celebrate his 70th birthday this year. It is an excellent opportunity not only to refresh a memory of Wojaczek’s poems, but also to present a more detailed picture of this unusual and colourful personality. This will be possible, for example, during discussion panels and a show of the film ‘Wojaczek’ with he participation of the director Lech Majewski and the actor playing the title role – Krzysztof Siwczyk. There will also be events addressed to those who write poems (the Wojaczek slam), to music lovers (the concert “A Letter to an Unknown Poet”, during which Wojaczek’s poems will be sung by Julia Kamińska and Nieprzyjemni) and to lovers of outdoor trips (a walk in the Wroclaw footsteps of Wojaczek with Jacek Bierut as a guide).
As in the previous year, the ANGELUS Literary Award of Central Europe will be granted; before its laureate is announced, there will be an opportunity to meet nominated authors: Jacek Dehnel, Drago Jančar, Ziemowit Szczerek, Lucian Dan Teodorovic and Olga Tokarczuk. And at the end of the festival on Sunday evening, the Kim Nowak band will perform in the company of the writer and journalist Wojciech Bonowicz.
