First Batch Of Buses To Arrive Very Shortly

Solaris, a company that makes new buses for Wrocław, is now preparing to deliver the first batch of new vehicles. They will most probably arrive in Wrocław later this week.

The first batch will include 9 Solaris Urbino buses, type solo, i.e. 12 metre long. They won't arrive in a fleet, therefore the delivery might be expected to stretch out in 2-3 days.

"We have commissioned the delivery at a shipping company. The buses will arrive on their own wheels, and on the spot the Municipal Transport Company (MPK) will check and officially sign for each one of them" explains Waldemar Wlazło, the sales director for the south-western region in Solaris.

Enthusiasts and residents poised in waiting

The new vehicles will land in a bus depot no 9. at ul. Obornicka. They will be seen in operation, e.g. on lines 115, 116, 132, or 140 as soon as they are registered. Public transport enthusiasts are already rubbing their hands and getting their cameras ready. "We can't wait for the moment when we are allowed to photograph the new vehicles for the first time. The delivery is a double joy, firstly because the city will gain new vehicles which will replace the old ones, and secondly they will be something new to photograph" said Łukasz Wolniewicz, a public transport enthusiast from the www.wroclawskakomunikacja.pl portal.

The rest is coming up later this year

Let us remind that Solaris Bus&Coach, in cooperation with Millenium bank is to deliver 57 brand new, low-floor and air-conditioned buses for MPK Wrocław. The city will gain 45 short vehicles and 12 articulated ones, which will replace the most time-worn "Ikaruses" and "Jelczes". According to the draft contract, the vehicles are to be delivered by March 2015, but the producer ensures that all new vehicles will arrive at Wrocław depots by the end of 2014.

The buses must adhere to all exhaust emission standards, including the strictest of them, Euro 6, and to include all systems, which are currently installed in the latest MPK vehicles (voice announcements, passenger information system, etc.). Their engines can have the capacity between 10 and 12 litres. The buses are to be painted in Wrocław colours, i.e. red and yellow. They are to be adapted for the disabled and include a wheelchair ramp. New buses are to replace those most worn-out, some of them carrying passengers for over 20 years. Solaris buses are operated in other Polish cities on a regular basis, in Wałbrzych, Warsaw or Poznań, among others.jk
