Here are just a hew samples of what we are in for during this year's festival. Remember to see "Ping Pong Summer", an intriguing comedy directed by Michael Tully and starring largely unknown artist except for the excellent Susan Sarandon as a retired table tennis player who helps a disaffected teenager to win admiration from his community. Onura Tukela's "Summer of Blood" also seems entertaining as it tells a vampire story in an utterly unexpected form (main character is a laid back chaser turned vampire).
The programme includes several really promising documentaries. The fans of Debra Granik (director of the shattering "Down to the Bone", with which Jennifer Lawrence started her international career) will be delighted to see "Stray Dog", a story of a biker who on his arm wears the US flag annotated Vietnam. You can hardly escape politics in the US, hence documentaries such as "Bronx Obama", which will surely draw interest both from pundits and the general public. The film tells a story of Louis Ortiz, a man who makes a living by impersonating President Barack Obama (he looks like Obama and delivers Obama's speeches that he learns by heart).
The 5th edition of the American Film Festival will be held from 21 to 26 October at the Nowe Horyzonty Cinema in Wroclaw.
