Promenade to be developed along ul. Wojanowska

The Wroclaw Development Office has updated the local area development plan for ul. Wojanowska, Daktylowa, Arachidowa and Piotrkowska. As a result, a new promenade will be developed parallel to ul. Wojanowska. A place to do shopping, relax or play football.

Stabłowice is one of the most rapidly developing areas in Wroclaw. Quite a few housing investments, including TBS residential projects, have been carried out in the area. The residents admit that they have little or no space to meet, have a walk, enjoy their free time or do shopping.

New promenade concept

In order to meet this pressing need, the Wroclaw Development Office (Biuro Rozwoju Wrocławia) has updated the local area development plan for ul. Wojanowska, Daktylowa, Arachidowa and Piotrkowska. The plan is expected to go under discussion at the February session of the Wroclaw City Council. One of the ideas included in the plan is to develop a promenade parallel to ul. Wojanowska. "The promenade has every chance to become a meeting area for the residents of the local housing estates, which are not interconnected in any way. The area will offer shops, a market place, playgrounds, sports fields as well as offices and small services," enumerates Przemysław Matyja from the Wroclaw Development Office.

The promenade would extend from ul. Daktylowa to ul. Piotrkowska. It would begin with a large, 2-thousand-sqm store. A perfect location for a discount store or supermarket. An eight-unit preschool will be built at the end of the promenade. The City Investment Management Board (Zarząd Inwestycji Miejskich) has just put a project to design and develop the preschool out to tender. The investment should be completed next year in June.

The area around the promenade has been divided into five separate zones:

  • Meeting area with a 2-thousand-sqm supermarket, open market, places to relax and eateries.
  • Health and relax area with a surgery, playgrounds and walking areas
  • Sports and leisure area with sports grounds and greenery
  • Public preschool
  • Offices and small services

The tender procedure to complete the construction of ul. Wojanowska is expected to open by the end of March. The street is going to join ul. Gen. Fieldorfa at the New Regional Hospital (Nowy Szpital Wojewódzki). The street will provide new communication opportunities for the residents travelling towards ul. Kosmonautów and Aleja Stabłowicka (under construction). The project should be completed by 2017.
