Artists Love Artists

This exhibition is an opportunity to not only commune with art. Viewing the works allow learning who is, or used to, date whom, and also how joined studios serve to exchange inspirations, run a creative, love dialogue, and run discussions, and even argue with paintings and sculptures.

Unfortunately, the exhibition "Artyści kochają artystki, artystki kochają artystów" [Artists Love Artists] does not bring the audience closer to the atmosphere in which artists who are joined not only in work, but also life, work. However, it presents excellent samples of artistic oeuvres of Wrocław mixed duos. Some of the works have been prepared especially for the exhibition, others were leased, and some comprise the collection of Ewa and Cezar Kaszewski, who have composed this intimate art ensemble. Left: works of Mira Żelechower and Jan Jaromir Aleksiun; right: Jolanta Nikt and Zdzisław Nitka have created works specially dedicated to the exhibition "History has noted quite a few artistic couples, and they were, as in the case of Frida Kahlo and Diego Riverą, or Katarzyna Kobro and Władysław Strzemiński, a symbol of difficult and stormy love. Usually, strong personalities repel, rather than attract each other" says Ewa Kaszewska. "But Wrocław seems to be a good place for such artistic relationships, and has been even since the first, post war years, when the first rector, Eugeniusz Geppert, started the local art university together with Hanna Krzetuska. The works of both artists are adjacent to each other at the exhibition in Galeria Skos. But you can meet other Wrocław talents related to the school - the exhibition includes works of the following rector, Jan Jaromir Aleksiun and Mira Żelechower. Works of Barbara Idzikowska and Eugeniusz Get Stankiewicz The exhibition also includes rather painful elements: when correlated with their living partner's work, that of a departed artist must evoke various reflections. Tragic life stories are present, too; the exhibition recalls a most talented student from years 1949-53, Waldemar Cwenarski. His moving, no doubt exceedingly individual and most innovative painting did not become the epoch, in which art must have had a top-down ordained, politically appointed formula. Cwenarski would not show his most important works at official college reviews, but only to those close to him. He went missing in so far unexplained circumstances. By the will of his mother, a Wrocław artist and his lady friend, Krystyna Cybińska, became the heiress of the whole artistic oeuvre of Cwenarski, and she, in turn decided to donate it to Wrocław National Museum. There is still hope, however, that Wrocław won't forget her genius with a short and eventful life story. Reproduction of a painting by Waldemar Cwenarski on a poster to his post-mortem exhibition, and a composition by Krystyna Cybińska   The exhibition includes also plenty of cheerful paintings, sculptures, installations, art jokes, as well as works by accomplished, happy and harmonious artist couples, who in addition, such as Elżbieta Janczak-Wałaszek with Krzysztof Wałaszek, Zdzisław Nitka with Jola Nikt, Daniela Tagowska with Przemysław Pintal, and Aga Jarząb with Maciej Bończyk, agreed to work together especially for the benefit of this exhibition. Work by Natalia LL, artist, who returned with a bang to the realm of Polish art; her works from 1970's stir great emotions   "Artyści kochają artystki, artystki kochają artystów" [Artists Love Artists] - an exhibition organised by the Galeria 2.
