Historic walls in Plac Wolności nearly ready [PHOTOS]

In all probability, the discovery will be made available to the public next month.

Just a brief reminder, the reconstruction of ul Zamkowa made the area around available to an archaeological survey. The work has brought surprisingly good results. Dating back to the 12th century, an earthwork was discovered underneath the old city wall. The discovery can change the outlook on Wroclaw's actual age. Almost intact, the remains of a half-shell tower from the 14th century were unearthed soon after.

In order to make the construction work possible, precious finds were transferred by the scientists to ul Zamkowa, where the tunnel is now located. Located at the back of the royal castle, the medieval tower, which is precious mainly due to its nearly intact condition, is going to be made available to the public.

The historic walls are expected to undergo a thorough conservation process, which is now under way. They have been encased in a special chamber, as they are buried underground. The visitors to Plac Wolności will be able to see the walls through a transparent ceiling. The structure was mounted yesterday, and the builders are now completing the installation process under a special protective tent. Thick glass panes to protect the medieval city walls are going to be mounted soon.
