This year's 11 November marks the 96th anniversary of Polish independence. The joyful parade will traditionally march through the city centre, a plethora of accompanying events are waiting for those who wish to attend it.
Formal celebrations in Plac Gołębi
The festivities will start with formal celebrations, gathering regional and city authorities, veterans, soldiers and the residents of Wroclaw. The celebrations will start at 10 am with High Mass conducted by Archbishop Józef Kupny at St Elizabeth's Basilica. Then the event will relocate to Plac Gołębi, where a solemn independence roll call will take place at 11 am.Before the call, volunteers: boy scouts and girl guides as well as senior citizens from the Wroclaw Senior Centre who form the Period Dress Reconstruction group, will distribute small gifts, such as rosettes and commemorative stickers.AT 12.30 pm, the 13th Joyful Independence Parade with leave Rynek to march through Plac Solny, Ruska, Kazimierza Wielkiego, Plac Dominikański, Wita Stwosza and to finally return to Rynek.At 1.30 pm a fencing show will begin, featuring the representatives of the Polish-Hungarian Fencing School and the alumni of the Fencing School No. 85 in Wroclaw. The programme also includes the announcement of the results in the competition for the best dressed team in the parade, communal singing (patriotic repertoire) and an honorary salute to celebrate Independence Day from the Long-Bow Fraternity. Plac Solny will host a boy scout town and an exhibition featuring works by children and young people from Wroclaw schools and educational centres prepared as part of the 13th Joyful Independence Day Celebrations.

11/11 I LOVE AND UNDERSTAND FREEDOM
Independence Day will also be celebrate at CK Agora at ul. Serbska 5a. All events are free of charge. Festivities start at 3 pm.The programme includes: live performances of songs from a variety of periods in the Polish history, on independence, patriotism and freedom. The concert will begin with songs such as "We are Polish" "My Warsaw" performed by the CHOCHLIKI children's choir, who will later be replaced by the ASTER choir in a traditional song repertoire.The audience is invited to sample the army-style pea soup after the concert. You will also be able to enjoy the historical games competition organised by the Institute of National Remembrance and arts workshops for families: those who attend will be offered to create white-and-red rosettes and a mock-up battle. They will use clay to form figurines of soldiers, horses and military equipment which they will later distribute on a relief map made of cardboard.You are also invited to bring cloth bags and T-shirts on which patriotic symbols, such as the eagle and the apple, will be impressed. The draughtsman Szymon Teluk will help you to try your hand at your self-portrait in an insurgent's cap.Children and young people will also be offer the opportunity to take part in the WHITE EAGLE arts competition. The best works in the competition will receive attractive awards.At 5 pm, the celebrations of Independence Day at CK AGORA will be concluded by a performance from the Warsaw Dancing Combo. The group embarked on the project to save traditional Warsaw music by presenting it in modern arrangements which nonetheless remain faithful to the original. The Warsaw Dancing Combo repertoire is focused on songs popular before World War II which entertained and moved audiences at various shows, dance events and also in the streets and backyards of the Polish capital. The band will perform in the following line-up: Jan Emil Młynarski, Piotr Zabrodzki, Wojtek Traczyk, Tomasz Duda, Lesław Matecki.
wROCK for Freedom - Independence Day 2014
A live performance from IRA and Perfect will celebrate Independence Day at the Centenary Hall. The "wROCK for Freedom -Independence Day" will mark the 96th anniversary of Polish independence. The event attracts thousands of fans every year, and offers a great opportunity for each and every generation to enjoy the sounds of Polish rock music. The concert is scheduled to start at 5 pm.
