On the bus, in the tram, at the bus stop, on a park bench, in cafés, during a break at work. And where do you read your book? www.wroclaw.pl encourages enthusiasts of literature to share their photos taken while reading a book and hash tagged #czytamwroclaw on Instagram and Facebook. In this way, we want to create a fashion for reading in public places and to promote books read by citizens of Wroclaw.
On 8 September, a special website dedicated to the campaign kicks off. It will feature photos of Wroclaw, whom we met out and about the streets with a book, with a brief description telling where, when and what they usually read. The website will be continuously updated with new people and their reader's stories. We also encourage citizens of Wroclaw to independently join in the campaign. Just take a picture with your mobile phone and share i ton Instagram or Facebook with a hash tag #czytamwroclaw. The picture should include a person and their chosen book, and a caption describing what, where and when they like to read most. These photos will be collected and published on the main web page.
On Tuesday, 8 September, anyone travelling by public transport reading a book (printed) is not required to carry a ticket. Instead of a fine, ticket inspectors will be handing bookmarks to such persons.
Book vertigo in Wroclaw
That day will also mark the opening of the Book Club in the BWA Dizajn Gallery - a perfect space for reading in public - in ul. Świdnicka, just off the Market Square. In the gallery, all reading-hungry comers will find a fireplace with live fire, a big bed, cosy seats and a collection of over 300 books that have been selected by the associated publishing houses, institutions, organizations and even individuals. The Book Club will be open from noon to 8 pm.
But this is not yet the end of the book attractions prepared for this day. On 8 September, the Wroclaw Centre for Professional Development of Teachers , which has been running the 'All of Wroclaw reads' for several years now, will fill in the book crossing boxes with some new items, specially for the enthusiasts of literature. In the afternoon, you will find them, e.g. in Staromiejski Park, in the Market Square or in Nowe Horyzonty Cinema.
The campaign is organized by the portal www.wroclaw.pl with the support of the Cultural Department of the City. The partners of the campaign are the Book Club in BWA Dizajn, Wroclaw Centre for Professional Development of Teachers and publishing houses: Warstwy, Bukowy Las, Wrocławskie Księgarnie and Książkowe Klimaty.
