Outdoor Show: Road to Independence 1918

An Outdoor Show in the "Light and Sound" series is called ROAD TO INDEPENDENCE 1918 and it reflects both patriotic subjects and society. The show features a variety of popular patriotic poems as well as songs and tunes that serve as an audible reminder of our history. Additionally, the show is illuminated to bring out the fortress's silhouette.

Visit the Centennial Hall to enjoy children's beloved Arka Noego and PANNY WYKLĘTE, which brings music and history while featuring a number of celebrated Polish singers: Halinka Młynkowa, Ania Rusowicz, Marcelina, Ania Brachaczek, Ania Witczak, Kasia Malejonek and Gonix as well as Maleo Reggae Rockers. Tickets range from 25 to 50 PLN. Free admission for children below 7 years of age.

A symphonic show with special arrangements will be performed by: Natalia Kukulska, Kuba Badach, Ania Dąbrowska and Riffertone, Kasia Rościńska, Aleksandra Nowak and Maciej Starnawski. The audience are in for a number of evergreens, including "Man in the Mirror" ,"Heal the World" or "Dirty Diana". However, new tunes and new arrangements will also be featured. Tickets range from 79 to 249 PLN.

Live Jazz: Great Improvisation by Batik

Batik is a new band featuring Joost Lijbaart, Wolfert Brederode, Bram Stadhouders and Clemens van der Feen. Lijbaart and Brederode have been performing as a duet since 2005, and the sound they have developed is now taking on a whole new dimension in a new project of theirs called Batik. Their latest LP Headland draws heavily on Claudy Jongstra's output (the artist known for her wool and felt compositions).Tickets: Zone 1: 60 PLN, Zone 2: 40 PLN (adult) / 25 PLN (reduced). King Lear's Songs bring a linear story while depicting the world of energies and rhythms that govern Shakespeare's tragedy. The ensemble have selected key scenes from "King Lear" to tell a story with words, gestures and music. Each song serves as a basis for developing a separate "dramatic poem". 11 am (White Stork Synagogue) - A guided tour around a mikvah with Danielle Chaimovitz from the Wrocław Jewish Community. What is a mikvah? Who used it? Danielle will tell you more about how to use a mikvah and will answer all your questions and queries. Admission: 8 PLN. Registration: [email protected]

6 pm (White Stork Synagogue) - Bente Kahan in a concert featuring Tadeusz Różewicz's poetry called "only a human being". The income from the concert is going to support the activity of the Bente Kahan Foundation at the White Stork Synagogue. Tickets: 30/50 PLN. 7.30 pm (White Stork Synagogue) - "Le Beau Danger" (110 min), dir. René Frölke. A cinematic depiction of the celebrated Romanian author Norman Manea, the author of short stories and essays on the Holocaust, everyday life under the Communist regime and in exile. Manea has been translated into 20 different languages.

Jacek Piechota studeis at the Academy of Music in Poznań. He has performed with the Opole Philharmonic Orchestra and the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra as past the cycle "Marek Długosz Journeys Down the Strings". Tickets: 10 PLN. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis (unnumbered seats). Ticket holders are eligible for a tour around the Pan Tadeusz Museum (entry from 4 pm).
