New zebra crossings in Reagana Roundabout are now open to the public. The city engineers and ZDiUM staff validated them today. The pedestrians can now use an underpass as well as zebra crossings.
"This does not happen at the expense of the drivers. The green light will keep for as long as previously. And the pedestrians will finally stop jaywalking in the area," said city activists from the Akcja Miasto [City Action] and Towarzystwo Upiększania Miasta Wrocławia [Association for the Beautification of the City of Wroclaw].
Traffic changes at the roundabout were precede by analysis and suitable tests. The results were positive. "The traffic lights have been coordinated in such a way that the pedestrians can cross the street using an island that itself is dissected with a zebra. This won't cause any disruption to other traffic users, and public transport in particular," says Wroclaw Pedestrian Officer Tomasz Stefanicki.
