Young Polish Philharmonic Orchestra in NFM

Data publikacji: Autor:

The Young Polish Philharmonic Orchestra functioning as a project of the Zwierciadło Foundation embarks on a concert tour for the 8th time. 43 exceptionally gifted young musicians will play in Wroclaw, Kalisz, Puławy and Warsaw in November. The last 7 tours comprised 30 concerts watched by around 35,000 people. The orchestra will play under the baton of Adam Klocek.

The Young Polish Philharmonic Orchestra is the only Polish youth orchestra subsidised from private funds, consisting of 43 most gifted students of music schools and universities aged between 16 and 21 who were selected during nationwide auditions. Young musicians receive annual financial scholarships from the Zwierciadło Foundation. The founders of the project are Sławomir Smołokowski and Grzegorz Jankilewicz. The musicians will play in Wroclaw in the National Forum of Music on 10th November at 7:00 p.m. The orchestra will be conducted by Adam Klocek – the winner of the Grammy 2014 award, and violinist Jan Mràček will appear as a guest.

Adam Klocek is the managing and artistic director of the Calisia Philharmonic and the artistic director of the Bronisław Huberman Częstochowa Philharmonic. He is also the originator and one of the creators of ‘Night in Calisia’ – the album that won the Grammy 2014 award in the category ‘Best Album of a Big Jazz Band’.

Jan Mràček, who will appear as a guest, is a charismatic Czech violinist, the youngest winner of the International Music Competition ‘Prague Spring’ in 2010 and the youngest soloist in the history of the Symphony Orchestra of the Czech Radio. He studies at the Vienna Music University under the direction of Jan Pospíchal – the long-term chief conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

During the autumn concert tour of the Young Polish Philharmonic Orchestra, the audience will hear ‘Sinfonietta per archi’ by Paweł Łukaszewski, ‘Violin Concerto in E major’ by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, ‘Serenade in E flat major’ by Richard Strauss, and ‘4th Symphony in B major’ by Ludwig van Beethoven.

‘The Young Polish Philharmonic Orchestra is an unusual marriage of talent, passion and hard work. It is a great joy for me to observe that our listeners see and recognise this – and their number increases every year. Only our Polish concerts attract over 30,000 persons. Our ambition is also to promote Polish culture and perform the repertoire of our greatest composers abroad. This year we played for many thousand people at the prestigious MISA Festival in Shanghai,’ says Tamara Surman, the president of the Zwierciadło Foundation.

Since the beginning of its activity, the Young Polish Philharmonic Orchestra has been supported by representatives of the musical environment connected both with classical music and new sounds. The first person who supported the project was the world-famous composer Zbigniew Preisner, who composed a piece specially for the concert tour of the Young Polish Philharmonic Orchestra in 2011.

The Zwierciadło Foundation organises 2 concert tours in summer and autumn within one year. During the autumn concert tour, the YPPO performs together with world-famous soloists of foreign orchestras in top Polish philharmonic and concert halls. Before each tour, the Zwierciadło Foundation organises an artistic workshop, which lasts a few days and consists of classes run by teachers from local Academies of Music, musicians of the National Philharmonic Orchestra and Sinfonia Varsovia and artists from abroad, soloists and members of well-known orchestras.
