  3. Wroclaw will be the Erasmus capital in 2027! Prestigious Erasmus Generation Meeting to be held in our city

On 21st-23rd November 2025, Wroclaw hosted representatives of the 44 member countries of the international student organisation Erasmus Student Network (ESN) at the organisation's statutory congress ‘General Assembly’. The aim of this meeting was to summarise the activities of the past months and to present the organisation's development plans on issues important for student mobility.

What is the 'General Assembly'?

Representatives of ESN’s member countries meet twice a year to jointly decide on the fate of the organisation, which has an impact on the experience of international students abroad.

During the past General Assembly, the Board of ESN International discussed the stages of implementation of the internal strategy, presented an analysis of the organisation's progress and announced changes in the digital ecosystem.

The Board presented, among others, preliminary results of the ESNsurvey student research project, which has been implemented since 2005 and is devoted to mobility issues and the Erasmus+ programme. It is the leading initiative of this kind, with the ultimate goal of which is to turn the vision of an Erasmus programme accessible to everyone into a reality.

The 16th edition of the survey gathered 35,937 responses, ranging from exchange students and those pursuing a full course of study abroad to those who decided not to leave, which provides a comprehensive picture of academic mobility.

However, one of the major events of the General Assembly, however, was the election of the organiser of the next Erasmus Generation Meeting (EGM) 2027. The ESN Wrocław Tech association decided to send an application. As a result of the vote, it was officially selected as its host.

This means that Wroclaw will host the largest conference on the internationalisation of higher education, created by and for students.

Erasmus Generation Meeting (EGM)

This conference is the flagship project of the Erasmus Student Network, embodying the essence of the organisation and reflecting its core values and mission. Erasmus Generation Meeting serves as a platform to present the impact and identity of ESN to a wide audience and to local communities.

The event is attended by local, national and European institutions, Erasmus+ alumni and students’ representatives from around the world.

Wroclaw is the Erasmus Capital 2027!

The conference will take place in Wroclaw on 15th–18th April 2027 and will bring together 1,000 students and 200 representatives of institutional partners.

The candidature of Wroclaw is backed by 22 motivated volunteers from 12 ESN sections from all parts of Poland. The organisers' aim is to create more than just a meeting of people from different countries. EGM 2027 aims to organise an event that inspires, strengthens bonds and motivates the Erasmus Generation to actively participate.

The key partners of the Event are: Wroclaw University of Technology and the Wroclaw City Office.

Erasmus Student Network (ESN)

ESN is an international student organisation with more than 500 local associations that operate in 44 countries, with support from around 15,000 volunteers. ESN offers help and support to more than 350,000 students across Europe and beyond each year. It actively promotes the mobility and integration of international students, thereby enriching their academic experience and fostering mutual cultural understanding.
