In this part of Europe, it is the most important meeting of diplomats, political scientists and representatives of business and science sectors, who discuss the most important events, problems and ideas concerning Europe on that occasion. The main theme of this year’s WGF, which will commence on the 11th of June, is: ‘The development of a political and business plan for the New Europe and the reinforcement of trans-Atlantic partnership.’ However, because of the hot situation in Ukraine, guests will certainly devote much attention to relations with Russia, issues of international safety and trans-Atlantic relations.
Freedom Awards
The culminating point of the Wroclaw Global Forum is the Atlantic Council of the United States Freedom Awards gala. The committee consisting of organisers’ representatives grants Freedom Awards to persons who have contributed to the promotion of freedom with their activity, work and talent. This year’s Freedom Awards were won by a Polish film director Agnieszka Holland, a Swedish politician Carl Bild and – posthumously – Boris Nemtsov, a Russian oppositionist and human rights activist who was assassinated in a Moscow street at the beginning of this year.
The Wroclaw Global Forum project is co-financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
