The half-an-hour program in Ukrainian will consist of five news stories concerning issues of primary importance for migrants. ‘Obviously, there will be such topics as the legalisation of residence, education or life in Wroclaw, but we will also talk about Polish and Ukrainian culture or interesting places,’ says Svitlana Kucherenko, one of the authors of the program.
Today around 100,000 Ukrainian citizens live in Wroclaw. Responding to the needs and expectations of recipients, WCRS and ECHO24 prepare the program addressed both to inhabitants of Ukrainian descent and Poles.
‘It is hugely important to create conditions for the fulfilment of Wroclaw’s current migration needs, particularly with regard to effective integration. The TV program in Ukrainian and Polish is supposed to help migrants adapt to new living conditions more easily and quickly, but also to bring them closer to Polish inhabitants of Wroclaw. Each of these persons has a very interesting and unique story that is worth telling and showing to others. And this is what the new program is for,’ says Dorota Feliks, Director of the Wroclaw Centre for Social Development.
The program will be broadcast in Polish and Ukrainian. You can watch it live every Saturday at 10:00 a.m. on TV ECHO24 and on You Tube.
‘We want Polish viewers to understand better their neighbours with whom they live in our city; we want to explain differences and show similarities,’ adds Paweł Czuma, the co-owner of TV ECHO24.
Programs will be re-broadcast for the entire weekend every two hours.
