The youngest inhabitant of the Africarium [VIDEO]

A brown fur seal was born in the Wroclaw ZOO. Since the first moments of its life, the mother has taken good care of the pup. For the first two weeks, caretakers have actually not interfered in relations of the animals. After this period and careful observations, the young brown fur seal was weighed. Her sex was also marked – the seal is certainly a female. She weighs 7 kg, develops properly and feels good. Her only food is her mother’s milk, which contains almost 30% of fat in the first days and around 50% in the later period. For the next two months, the young brown fur seal will not be present on the pen. During this time, the pup will change her fur and then will start learning to swim. And this means jumping into deep water, because the group of brown fur seals will be transferred to the Africarium within a few weeks. They are one of the first animals that will inhabit the oceanarium and will enjoy the excellent conditions of the spacious and ca 4 m deep swimming pool.
