Before workers and machinery appear on Bardzka, Elektrotim has to prepare a detailed design. There is a plan to maintain the tram traffic at this location for as long as possible despite the ongoing works.
Redevelopment of Bardzka – a better future for MPK and drivers
The intersection of Armii Krajowej Avenue with Bardzka Street and of Bardzka with Piękna, Hubska and Kamienna is a challenging area with very heavy traffic. The planned reconstruction will improve the operation of public transport, but will also benefit drivers. Buses will not 'take away' space from cars there.
The investment is related to the construction of a dedicated public transport route to Jagodno. Buses travelling on the busway from this housing estate to the centre – and in the opposite direction – will not be stuck on the roadway between cars.
Krzysztof Świercz, Wrocławskie Inwestycje: Today, the bus enters the stop to return to the general roadway on the eastern side, while on the western side it travels only on the roadway. Once the works are completed, it will not have to make this manoeuvre – it will take a dedicated route together with the trams, which will also make it easier for car drivers to move within that area[/quote].
Reconstruction of Bardzka – a new bus stop and more greenery
The tram stop in the direction of Gaj and Tarnogaj will be rebuilt so that a tram and a bus could stop there at the same time. This will facilitate transfers and also improve public transport service towards Gaj, Tarnogaj or Jagodno. A new pedestrian crossing and cycle crossing will also be created.
The 10 young trees that interfere with the construction will be replanted. A few hundred shrubs – cotoneasters and Japanese spiraea – will be added. The investment has been planned in a way reducing the need to shut down tram traffic. The suspension of trams is expected to take place during the holiday season.
Elektrotim will have nine months from the signing of the contract to complete the task. This means that the reconstruction should be completed before the end of the year.
