The volunteers who engaged in helping hospitals and other institutions taking part in pandemic-fighting activities in spring worked on a slightly ad hoc basis.
‘Now we had to specify the rules of their work in hospitals. The heads of the Ministry of Health suggested that a part of tasks performed by them as voluntary service should be the basis for getting credit for the acquisition of practical skills,’ says Monika Maziak, the spokesperson for the Medical University in Wroclaw.
The rules of engagement of voluntary students have changed, too. The heads of units will specify the number of assistants they need and the scope of their duties.
‘Now we are looking for 30 students to help in the Clinic of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care. Students will perform the simplest tasks, and nobody will require specialist knowledge in anaesthesiology from them,’ says the spokesman.
The ad about the recruitment of volunteers mentions that this work may involve contact with COVID-19 patients. At the same time, training, security and personal protective equipment will be provided.
