The Procession of the Magi is a nativity play performed in the streets of villages, towns and cities throughout Poland and elsewhere. This year's procession is held under the slogan "Mercy Above All". The phrase was coined by Pope Francis I as an allusion to this year's Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy.
Everyone can join Wroclaw's procession. The procession leaves Ostrów Tumski at 12.30 pm. Each participant will be given a crown, and Christmas carol songbooks will be distributed. The organisers also encourage the participants to prepare the costumes and the crowns on their own.
A special mobile app with Christmas carol lyrics and guitar fingerings was developed for those who wish to join similar processions all over Poland. The programme was designed by Wroclaw-based Stermedia. Since previous year, an app featuring all former procession routes has been available, including all highlights such as little nativity scenes, medical facilities and children's pick up points).
Similar processions are held in several hundred places in Poland as well as in Germany, Ukraine, Great Britain, Romania, Italy, the US and even Rwanda or Ecuador.
Throughout Lower Silesia, the Procession of the Magi will be held in Oleśnica, Jelcz-Laskowice, Oława, Siechnice, Trzebnica, Oborniki Śląskie, Malczyce and Świdnica.
