End of summer in musical greenery
At the end of the summer, the City of Wroclaw and the ‘SO WHAT?’ Foundation invite you to a series of seven unique concerts. Wroclaw's green squares and parks will be filled with the sounds of well-known and popular hits by big stars. From 24th August to 14th September, personalities from the Wroclaw music scene will sing for us.
Renata Granowska, Deputy Mayor of Wroclaw: ‘Together with Wroclaw artists, we invite you to celebrate summer to the rhythm of good music, rediscover the city's green spaces and contribute to the unique atmosphere of outdoor concerts. The range of performances is very diverse – from classic jazz evergreens, through hot southern samba or bossa nova rhythms, to the great hits of Polish and foreign pop music.
All concerts are free of charge and start at 6 p.m.
August Music Parks of Wroclaw – program
29th August, Park Słoneczny [Sunny Park] – Artur Caturian
‘The Most Beautiful Male Voices’ is a program made up of works by singers who are highly regarded in Poland and around the world. We will hear songs by such artists as Zbigniew Wodecki, Czesław Niemen, Elton John, Frank Sinatra or James Brown.
30th August, Park Południowy [South Park] – Marzena Słowik and the band ‘Słowik e os pássaros do amor’
The concert programme will feature songs associated with Latin American music, naturally combining elements of jazz, bossa nova, samba, choro or baião.
31st August, Św. Macieja Square - Justyna Woźniak
The performance by the artist known for her performances at Capitol Theatre and TV series is based on songs by great Polish singers from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. We will hear, among others, songs by Violetta Villas, Krystyna Prońko or Kayah.
September Music Parks of Wroclaw – program
5th September, Grabiszyński Park – Kasia Pakosa
The charismatic singer and member of the Kosy band, together with Robert Jarmużek, composer and pianist of the Mikromusic band, will offer a fresh interpretation of vocal traditions from Lower Silesia.
6th September, Leśnica Park – Katarzyna Mirowska
The program of the 'Gershwin for 5' concert will feature songs such as 'Lady Be Good', 'Foggy Day' and 'Summertime' in new, original arrangements by Robert Jarmużek, Katarzyna Mirowska and the band.
14th September, Staromiejski Park – Natalia Lubrano
‘Songs for Humanity – Jazz Reflections’ – the program will include reinterpretations of songs such as Stanisław Sojka's 'Tolerancja', Grażyna Łobaszewska's 'Ślady na wodzie' and Billie Holiday's 'Strange Fruit'.
