At the eastern frontage, you can already see an almost completed strip of new pavement that makes it easier to move for disabled persons, parents with prams and women in high-heeled shoes. Pavers will open this section when the joints eventually become dry. At the same time, in order to take advantage of the good weather, they began to dismantle further parts of the pavement.
‘The dismantling of the old pavement is under way in the southern part and has begun in the northern part. The contractor is taking advantage of the good weather, so there is a chance that works will be completed ahead of time and restaurant owners could open their gardens at an earlier date,’ says Ewa Mazur, the spokesperson for the Administration of Roads and City Maintenance. 
In order to cause as little inconvenience as possible to city inhabitants, restaurant owners and tourists, works have been divided to 6 stages. Apart from that, they will be suspended for the summer period. The new pavement is being made of cut-chopped stone cubes and is filled with joints. As you may remember, works began with the replacement of paving stone at the eastern frontage and this stage is almost finished. Now only the access road to the Market Square is to be paved. At present, the contractor is working at the northern frontage and the southern frontage – the schedule of upcoming works is presented below:
- northern frontage – from ul. Wita Stwosza to the house no. 51 – from the 3rd decade of March till the 3rd decade of April,
- sourthern frontage – from ul. Świdnicka to the house no. 20 – from the 3rd decade of March till the 3rd decade of April,
- northern frontage – from the pl. Solny to the house no. 20 – from the 3rd decade of April till the end of May,
- southern frontage – from ul. Św. Mikołaja to the house no. 51 – from the 3rd decade of April till the end of May.
According to arrangements made with restaurant owners and organisers of planned events, works will be suspended from June till the 15. September. The western frontage will be built from September till November according to the following schedule:
- from ul. Św. Mikołaja to the house no. 5 – from the 2nd decade of October till the 10. November,
- from the Pl. Solny square to the house no. 7 – from the 2nd decade of October till the 10. November,
- from the house no. 5 to the house no. 7 – from mid-September till the 1st decade of October.
