Wrocławskie Inwestycje and Elektonim have signed a contract for the reconstruction of a part of Bardzka Street – on the section from Armii Krajowej to Piękna – in order to make city bus traffic smoother.
- Time to perform the task: 9 months from the signing of the contract.
- Investment value: PLN 12.3 million.
- Anticipated completion time: December 2025 / January 2026.
Buses together with trams
After the reconstruction, city buses will run not on the roadway as they do now, but on the track.
Krzysztof Świercz, Wrocławskie Inwestycje: ‘The missing section of the transport corridor will allow buses to run on the tram track from Armii Krajowej Avenue to Piękna Street. After the investment, it will be possible for buses to pass comfortably through this busy part of the housing estate. Once the work is complete, the bus will travel in a dedicated lane, which will also make it easier for car drivers to move in this area.
The investment will include a change at the tram stops towards Gaj and Tarnogaj. Both trams and buses will stop there. ‘This will make potential transfers easier for passengers and, in the future, improve public transport trips towards Jagodno,’ explains Krzysztof Świercz.
Other novelties include an additional pedestrian crossing and cycle crossing, as well as greenery in pots and shrubs. The young trees that grow within the construction site will be replanted.
The investment has been planned so as to limit the need to suspend tram traffic – up to one month during the summer holidays.
The reconstruction of the section of Bardzka is linked to the construction of a public transport route to Jagodno. Buses travelling in a dedicated lane from this housing estate to the centre – and in the opposite direction – will not share the roadway with cars.
Before starting work, the contractor must complete the documentation.
