Students from PWR Racing Team arrived in England on Wednesday. They are taking part in the next competition from the Formula Student cycle on Silverstone Circuit. Last spring Wroclaw students competed successfully on racing tracks in the USA. ‘We hope that we will rank high in the same events in which we performed best in the USA,’ said Łukasz Horanin, the leader of the Wroclaw team.
On Silverstone Circuit, Wroclaw students finished ninth in a competition involving over 90 teams from around the world. A place in the Top 10 means that the Wroclaw team repeated the best result in its history (in May 2015, they finished 9th on the racing track in Michigan, USA). In England, students of the Wroclaw University of Technology achieved the best result in the acceleration event, which is a test of acceleration on a 75 m long section. Their RT-05 car reached 100 km per hour already after 3.87 seconds, which was the 3rd best result.
Students from the WUT's Scientific Circle of Vehicles and Mobile Robots participated in a weekend competition, too. They took their LEM Napoli (Light Electric Motorcycle) to Barcelona, where they competed in Smart Moto Challenge. The winners of last year’s competition performed well again, making it to the lowest place of the podium. Only two teams from Moscow State University of Mechanical Engineering were better. Wroclaw students were the best in static events: the presentation of a business plan and motorcycle design details.
