New Year’s Eve Party on Market Square 2019 [PROGRAM]

Concerts of Ewa Farna, Kamil Bednarek and Sound’n’Grace, performances by Wroclaw artists, the mysterious Star of the North and a spectacular setting – these are only some attractions of the biggest New Year’s Eve party in Wroclaw. What else will happen?

The municipal New Year’s Eve Party 2019 will be held under the slogan “Wroclaw Respect”.

Paweł Gołębski: We invite everyone who treasures such values as respect, openness and tolerance. We want this common party to unite Wroclaw inhabitants and persons who have arrived here from other parts of Poland and the world, people of all colours, nationalities, preferences and religions at every age.

The organisers expect that this year’s party will attract, e.g., thousands of young people who will arrive in Wroclaw for the Taizé European Meeting at the end of the year.

Integrative stage

Concerts of stars will be intertwined with performances by artists from Wroclaw. We will see, among others, authors of the show Prometeusz [Prometheus] – acrobats from the Everest artistic agency, Beats Beasts drummers, and the Wroclaw Respect Choir under the baton of Maciej Wojciechowski.

There will be concerts of Kamil Bednarek, Ewa Farna and the Sound’n’Grace choir, Śląsk Wroclaw fans moving on wheelchairs, artists from the Arka Integrative Theatre and the team of Café Równik – the first café in Poland where bartenders and waiters are intellectually disabled persons.

Something that the world has not seen...

A couple of minutes before midnight, shortly after wishes from the mayor, we will something that the world has not yet seen: Sobie i Wam – the hit of this year’s Męskie Granie tour – will be performed jointly by 200 persons, including one hundred Wroclaw inhabitants invited to the stage, ... in sign language. In addition, they will sign together one of the most beautiful love songs: I Want To Know What Love Is by Foreigner.

In the first minutes of the New Year, DJ Gambit’s set will start with dancers and Maciej Wojciechowski's choir – all will sing Dr. Alban’s famous hit Sing Hallelujah! for Wroclaw, for young people from Taizé communities, for everyone.

All lights of midnight

We will not welcome the New Year with fireworks, but we will not even think about them as we will have tons of streamers and confetti. The Plac Gołębi square will also shine with thousands of lights, and you can also expect smokes, sparks, fires and other spectacular effects.

Thanks to modern technology, the stage will transform into successive bridges: Rędziński, Grunwaldzki, Tumski, etc. A few dozen stroboscopes and floodlights will turn the Wroclaw city hall into the biggest colorophone in Poland glittering with colour lights and the entire Plac Gołębi into a big disco under the stars.

No barriers

This year’s Wroclaw New Year’s Eve party will be even more accessible to persons with disabilities. The organisers and the Katarynka Foundation will prepare specially for them a wheelchair-friendly platform with a package of solutions that will enable blind (thanks to audio description) and deaf persons (thanks to the inductive loop allowing them to feel the rhythm, basses and vibrations) to fully take part in the event.

Artists on stage will be accompanied by sign language interpreters (visible also on screens) who will translate lyrics for deaf persons during the whole party.
