Mszkrab, which was set up for student parents, is the first centre of this kind in the city. "Our main goal is to help students negotiate their academic and parental duties," explains Kamil Nawirski, President at the Fundacja Manus, the centre's founder.
"Students, especially female students, often happen to give up their studies to take care of their newly born babies. We want to change this First mothers have already signed agreements with us and the first baby has already arrived as well," recounts Kamil Nawirski.
MSzkrab is located at T-4, a student house at ul Górnickiego 22 (also designed for student parents), and is open from Monday to Saturday between 7.30 am and 7 pm. The centre has a maximum capacity of 24 children. The premises have been provided by the University.
MSzkrab uses a digital registration system which allows parents to choose the time slot when they want to leave their babies at the centre. The system also provides information on each baby's individual characteristics and requirements. The system may be used to register babies three times a week (up to five hours each).
