Jagielloński Bridge to be repaired. Changes for drivers

On the weekend of 29th/30th October, the repair of the Jagielloński Południowy Nowy Bridge used by vehicles driving towards Plac Grunwaldzki started. The works should be completed by the end of this year. The repair means that the bridge will be completely closed for car traffic, but it still can be used without hindrance by pedestrians and cyclists.

The aforementioned passage over the Oder canals is 60 m in length. The scope of work includes, e.g., the demolition of the road surface down to the deck slab, anti-corrosion protection and the placement of a new waterproofing insulation layer. Later a new asphalt surface with a special reinforcement mesh will be laid. The repair of the surface encompasses also the 20-metre access route from ul. Krzywoustego.

Drivers have to be prepared for a narrower route right behind the intersection of ul. Toruńska and Al. Kochanowskiego, where cars will pull over to the second carriageway and return onto their main road only behind the intersection with ul. Mianowskiego and ul. Smoleńskiego.

In the two-way section, overtaking is prohibited and the speed limit is reduced to 40 km/h.

Exit from ul. Mianowskiego and Smoleńskiego will be possible only for right turn movements so as not to disrupt traffic on the detour.

Another repair of bridges

In 2014, a major overhaul of a twin passage – the Jagielloński Południowy Stary Bridge – took place; for a couple of years, the speed limit on that bridge had been reduced to 30 km/h due to its poor technical condition. This bridge will take over two-way traffic during the planned repair of the Południowy Nowy Bridge.
