What will the 34th Economic Forum in Karpacz be like? Two weeks before the launch, Renata Granowska – Deputy Mayor of Wroclaw, Magdalena Okulowska – President of the Wroclaw Agglomeration Development Agency, and others talked about the event.

On 2nd–4th September 2025, the 34th Economic Forum will take place in Karpacz. This year’s edition is held under the theme 'Transformation time: what will be the Europe of the future?'. This cyclic event is a meeting platform where such topics as security, economic development prospects, contemporary challenges and overcoming crises are discussed. One of the partners of the Economic Forum in Karpacz is the City of Wroclaw.

‘Karpacz is a story about co-operation, innovation, economic development, and dialogue between different groups,’ explains the Deputy Mayor of Wroclaw Renata Granowska. ‘We as Wroclaw will address topics such as infrastructure, foreign investments, our co-operation with universities, which builds scientific and technological potential. This year we are focusing on an aspect that is particularly important and crucial in these days – safety. We will present our unique Safe Wroclaw programme, which combines new technologies and education and ultimately builds public safety.’

Safe in Wroclaw on the forum in Karpacz

Deputy Mayor Granowska encouraged participation in workshops and educational activities that will be held at the Safe Wroclaw stand.

Renata Granowska: ‘We will tell you how our new programme eliminates risks and prepares the people of Lower Silesia for emergencies. These include rescue drones, access to defibrillators in public places, or a rapid emergency call app, as well as monitoring, shelters, evacuation backpacks and the importance of drinking tap water.’

Four panel discussions from ARAW

Among the business partners of the Economic Forum in Karpacz 2025 is the Wroclaw Agglomeration Development Agency (ARAW).

‘I am very pleased that the forum is to be held in Lower Silesia – the region which is the most dynamically developing investment and innovation centre,’ says ARAW's President Magdalena Okulowska. ‘Economic and business issues are crucial for us,’ she adds.

Magdalena Okulowska: ‘Over the past two decades, we have counted Polish and foreign investments in hundreds. Specifically, more than 260 projects that have created more than 130,000 jobs in Lower Silesia. In Wroclaw itself, we are also strongly committed to innovation, which spreads throughout the region. We are the city with the largest number of research and development centres in Poland.’

‘Creative potential is also built on the basis of the development of our 30 universities. As a result, our region is the one where the start-up environment develops most dynamically, so there will be no shortage of innovators and investment funds at our stand in Karpacz. We will organise an accompanying event for them, as their co-operation brings concrete projects and results,’ announces Magdalena Okulowska.

The Wroclaw Agglomeration Development Agency prepared four substantive panels for the forum:

  • Investments 360° – about co-operation between business, public administration and experts,
  • cross-border co-operation for the Wroclaw–Dresden–Prague triangle,
  • health – in correlation with the Safe Wroclaw municipal programme,
  • co-operation between innovators, administration and citizens – on the theme of Smart City.

Lower Silesia as the main partner of the Forum

The main partner of the event is the Marshal's Office of the Lower Silesia Province. Marshal Paweł Gancarz emphasises that the Economic Forum in Karpacz is the largest meeting of this kind in Poland and one of the most important in Europe. It will be attended by around 6,000 participants, including economists, politicians and local government officials. The program encompasses 600 panel discussions where directions of development are to be determined for the year ahead.

Jarosław Rabczenko, Executive Board of the Lower Silesia Province: ‘With its position, level of importance and the number of speakers and panels, this event resonates throughout Lower Silesia, our country and Europe. It should also be talked about as a strong promotion of our beautiful province, which has much to boast about.’

At the press conference announcing the forum, the chairman of the programme board, Zygmunt Berdychowski, noted that he had divided the substantive programme into two main sections:

  • sessions, seminars and panel discussions;
  • presentations of national and international books on political, macroeconomic, cultural or historical topics.

Zygmunt Berdychowski: ‘The big challenge at the moment is industrial policy and other factors that significantly change the geopolitical and economic landscape. These factors require us to provide concrete answers. The most important question is ultimately: what will Europe be like after the transition, after the completed – and spontaneous – period of hurrah globalisation.’
