The monument of Diana, or more precisely, the Diana Group (Dianegruppe), as it used to be called before World War II, stood in Szczytnicki Park at the intersection of ul Mickiewicza and Wróblewskiego. The ancient goddess held a spear in her hand and was accompanied by two hunting dogs. She was running onto a plinth composed of boulders imitating a craggy landscape. The surrounding area was covered with conifer trees and Alpine vegetation. This particular section of the park was called Diana's Garden. The monument by Ernst Seger was unveiled in August 1898. Seger (1868-1939) was born in the then Neisse, Germany, and studied at the Breslau School of Fine Arts and in Paris. He was also one of the authors of the Struggle and Victory Allegory Fountain in Plac Jana Pawła II. He created the figures representing struggle and victory.
The Wroclaw Enthusiasts Association, the Polish Hunting Association and Wroclaw's authorities made a concerted effort to restore the monument.
