"The logo we've been using so far is overloaded and needed refreshing. The new one is to represent the idea behind the racing track and its activity, and our main task is to organize horse races" says Jerzy Sawka, the head of Wrocław Horse Racing Track.
The second vital argument of the competition's organizers refers to promotion. "As a place itself, and a racing track, Partynice is nearly completely unknown. Actually, outside of Wrocław people have no idea what Partynice is, whether it is a village, or a district. That's why we intend to promote ourselves using the name of Wrocław, which is a brand of its own, and a commonly recognized place, also abroad. Hence the idea to include the slogan "Wyścigi konne. Wrocław" ("Horse racing. Wrocław") in the logo.
The competition is organized by Lower Silesia Horse Racing Association - Partynice and The Department of Graphic Design of Wrocław Academy of Fine Arts. The competition is available only for the students and graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts from years 2004-2014. This is also intentional. The regulations allow for the track's new logo to be created as a part of university classes - it all depends on the lecturer.
Furthermore, the recently organized open competition included plenty of entry works, however none of them was chosen. This time the participant's pool was limited to specialists in graphic design.
Jerzy Sawka: "The new logo is to be modern. I'd rather it didn't include horse silhouette or horse mane in a straightforward way. It's about free associations, effective, top-notch symbolics.
The competition's prize pool is six thousand zlotys. Each participant is eligible for entering maximum three proposals. The deadline is 14. January. Details and rules are available at the organizer's website
