Bring relief to Polish children in the East

You can donate your handbooks, fairy tales, set texts, multimedia publications, sports equipment and toys to children in Lithuania and Ukraine. There is one condition, however. They need to be in good condition. This is the tenth time the Faculty of Law at the Wroclaw University has organised the relief.

The event is carried out as part of the campaign "Be a Polish Santa: Donate a Book to Polish Children in the East." The relief is conducted under the auspices of the Wroclaw University's Rector and the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics at the Wroclaw University.

"All donations will travel either to Ukraine or Lithuania," says Professor Maciej Marszał, the campaign's co-organiser at the Wroclaw University.

The campaign "Be a Polish Santa: Donate a Book to Polish Children in the East" has continued for ten years now. Apart from books, the organisers are particularly keen to collect devices to play multimedia for the children. But you can also donate sports equipment, toys and Xerox paper.

"Over the last few years we have also brought paints to redecorate several Polish schools," mentions Professor Maciej Marszał.

Last year's donations travelled to the Polish Teaching Centre (Polskie Centrum Metodyczne) in Drohobych and the Polish school in Boryslav, Ukraine. Books also travelled to Lithuania, including the Polish middle school in Nemenčinė, near Vilnius, and to the school in Bezdonys. This year's relief is going to help children in Terebovlia and Chortkiv, Ukraine, and Pabradė, Lithuania.

"We began ten years ago by bringing toys to Lviv. The parish priest at the Lviv Cathedral helped us to reach children from Polish schools. We are now particularly keen to collect Polish language handbooks, for example Falski's reader, which still proves very useful," adds Professor Maciej Marszał.

Donations will be accepted by 15 March, from 9.00 a.m. till 5.00 p.m. at the reading room (3rd floor) of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics (Building D) in ul. Uniwersytecka 22/26.
