Auto-cleaning toilets to be installed in Wroclaw parks

Within the scope of two projects submitted for the Wroclaw Citizens’ Budget, auto-cleaning toilets will be installed in six green areas. Part of them should be ready by the end of this year, and the rest will appear in the urban space in 2020.

Auto-cleaning toilets will appear in Wroclaw in connection with the performance of two projects submitted within the scope of the Wroclaw Citizens’ Budget in 2017 and 2018 – both projects have been selected in the category of general urban projects.

Selected for implementation in 2017, the project no. 10 covers the installation of toilets in the Polana Karłowicka park (the tender should be announced already this month), in the Kleciny Park and on Skarbowców Hill (originally the toilet was to be installed near the Oporów balloon loop, but the location was changed for technical reasons). The investment should be completed by the end of this year.

Within the scope of the project no. 28 covered by the Wroclaw Citizens’ Budget 2018, toilets will appear in the Zachodni Park, Park Szczytnicki and Park Skowroni at ul. Weigla. The last details are still under arrangement, but it is very likely that the aforementioned toilets will be available to inhabitants in 2020.

The amount of 2 million PLN has been earmarked for the implementation of both projects.

Better adaptation to disabled persons and individual look

Toilets will be built on the basis of the design made by ISBA Design Group. Interestingly, changes have been made regarding the toilet that was placed in the Wschodni Park some time ago.

  • New toilets will be adapted better to the needs of disabled persons:
  • lowered entrances (the difference towards the ground level will be 5 cm),
  • there will be holders instead of handles on doors,
  • the toilet will be mounted on the height of 42 cm (the standard height is 50 cm) and the washbasin will be mounted on the height of 90 cm (it will be possible to get under it freely in a wheelchair),
  • 2 alarm buttons,
  • protruding parts, such as hooks for hanging clothes/bags or holders against a contrasting background.
  • The auto-cleaning function will cover the toilet bowl, the walls and the floor.

The toilet will be invariably a single-stand unit, with a baby changing unit in the form of a small shelf, a toilet seat cover dispenser, or a hand drier heater/cooler installed inside it. The rooms will be designed individually in an oval shape. The roof will be covered with stonecrops – the plants that are resistant to intense sunlight and periodic drought. In addition, special watering places will be located outside.

The assembly of each toilet may take 3-4 months, and the finished device will be brought to the place of installation, where it will be connected to relevant water & sewage and power supply networks.
